AI enables convenience, intelligence, and autonomy – Manu Sharma, MD, Dreame India

In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Manu Sharma, Managing Director of Dreame India, discussed the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on home cleaning technologies. He highlighted how AI integration in Dreame’s products enhances convenience, intelligence, and autonomy, positioning the company at the forefront of smart cleaning solutions in India.

Advanced AI Capabilities in Smart Cleaning

Sharma emphasized that Dreame’s robotic vacuums utilize a combination of LiDAR, 3D structured light, and camera technologies to achieve precise obstacle recognition. These systems can identify nearly 200 objects with 99% accuracy, thanks to an extensive dataset comprising eight billion entries. This level of precision allows the robots to navigate complex home environments effectively, avoiding obstacles like wires, shoes, and pets.

Specialized Cleaning Functions

The AI-driven systems in Dreame’s products are designed to adapt to various cleaning scenarios. For instance, upon detecting stains, the robot increases liquid release to break down the stain, followed by repeated suctioning to ensure thorough cleaning. In cases of wet spills, an absorbent mop is deployed, while larger debris like pet food triggers higher suction power. This adaptability ensures efficient cleaning across different conditions.

Market Potential in India

Despite the advanced technology, Sharma noted that the penetration of lifestyle tech products in India remains below 1%, indicating significant growth potential. With the current market size at approximately 150,000 units, Dreame anticipates a doubling of this figure in 2025 and aims for a fivefold increase in its growth trajectory.

Commitment to Data Privacy

Addressing concerns about data privacy, Sharma assured that Dreame’s devices store data locally, ensuring that user information remains within the device and is not transmitted externally. This approach underscores the company’s commitment to user privacy and data security.
